But uh this these people come in to like taste test his food, and he's just like you know, talking about like his life, and uh he's like the guy, this kid just goes, Your grandpa killed my grandpa. Cottonhill, you know, I kill 50 men, and Bobby just goes, Your grandpa was one of the 50. Because I don't think anybody ever believed it. But in this the new one, uh Bobby, he's like 21 or 22. Okay, so Hank's probably in his like early 60s.

I the one gag that I kind of giggled at when I was a kid was when he was trying to get some door open and he had a can of WD-40, and they couldn't get the lid off a can of WD-40, so he has like a pocket WD40 with a that was literally tiny, and he WD40 the can of WD 40 to open the door. Yeah, that was like that was the most Hank Hill thing that's ever happened ever.

It's just like he had it like in a little leather holster like on his belt, like just in case he needed ups, W D40, because that's probably all it had in it. I mean, Hank is still like Hank. In a lot of ways, Peggy's even worse with her like you know, god complex, or just you know, she's the best at everything that's ever happened anywhere.

And her lifelong obsession with boggle and being a substitute Spanish teacher, because in one episode she has to represent herself in a Mexican court of law, really, otherwise, she's like gonna go to prison for like kidnapping a kid, and Hank is just like, you know, no, she's like addressed the court in Spanish, and like she starts talking, and like all the like the subtitles are just nonsense, and Hank is just looking at the judge like she doesn't know Spanish. It's like, come on, he's like, All right, case dismissed, you freak up, get out of Mexico. But it's good seeing because they're all in their 20s, Bobby runs a restaurant, Connie's in college, Joseph's an idiot still, like he was back in the show. Dale, his voice actor died. So it's a totally new person voicing Dale, and it's not it's not the same. Yeah, it's really not.

I hate it when they do that. Like the Muppets throughout the generations, just you're just like whenever you hear like uh a Fozzie bear, yeah, and you're just like doesn't sound right. I don't know why people can nail Mickey Mouse throughout the centuries, but like it's really Walt Disney all those times.

Hank's a little bit different, a little more open-minded. Oh, yeah. Less uh he's like a Texas liberal. He's not liberal, but he there's certain things where he like he likes soccer now. Oh yeah. Because in Saudi in Saudi Arabia, that's right. Yeah, they because he like quit his job at Strickland Propane because according to Buck Strickland, he's like he gave the manager position to his bastard son. Ray Roy. He's like, I had my bastard moment. And Hank's like, I quit. And then he gets a job to go do propane in Saudi Arabia.

No, it's like the last uh I think five. It was like a five-year contract as an assistant manager out there, and they had like a whole like complex thing like set up that was like little America, and like they try to get him to come back, and they're just like, We'll give you a new wife. And he's like, I like my wife's name. They're like, Really? It's like we'll give you two. Like, you can pick them, like whatever you want. It's like, please come back. But he was like putting propane in a stadium and saw a soccer game, and he was admiring the lawn.

And then he realized soccer had an incredibly strict set of rules that he could full heart wholeheartedly embrace. And he goes to this whole saga of like hiding that he loves it, and then he has to like guest referee the closet because like Boomhauer quits because he's just like Boomhauer was like referee, and it was turning into like tackle football. And Hank comes out and he's like red carding people and like doing all kinds of stuff, and they're just like, What happened to you? And he goes, I love it. There's just great rules, but it's been fun watching it. Um, not really too much more I can say about it because I don't want to spoil any of the episodes and like kind of stuff that happens, but it's in the grand scheme of things where we had a show for such a long time and then it disappeared, and then they bring it back. It was a smart way to do it. I think it was it was a smart way to do it, and they've done it tastefully so far.

Obsession Review And Fan Theories

Well, I saw the movie Obsession. We obsessed. I was. Um but uh I I didn't realize this was until well, until I looked into the movie. I didn't realize this is the same girl. She was in uh Superman and Lois, the CW show. Okay. She was like uh the little superboy's girlfriend throughout the entire thing. But the the show or sorry, this this movie was like there's a lot of theories on like what happened to her. One interesting one, because basically the whole movie she starts off where they're friends with this guy, and then the the guy goes into the store and he's gonna give her like this cool gift, and then instead of you know getting the guts to ask her out, he she she walks, you know, she walks out of the car. Well, he pulls out the gift he was gonna give her, and it's like a it's called a one-wish willow, right? And he breaks it in half and makes his wish, and then she immediately becomes infatuated with him and obsessed the rest of the movie. Until the point where she's doing like crazy psychotic things, but then it at some points in the movie, it's like she breaks out of psychos and she's like herself and is like terrified of what's going on. But uh one of the like the theories is like they said that that when his cat dies at the beginning of the movie, it's his cat that like personality that takes over her body because she does things like her eyes glow in the dark, like when she's in the dark, like when she's in the shadows, her eyes are like reflecting light. And the fact that she brings the cat body back inside and makes this nice burial, but then when she kills the well, she kills someone later on and then brings them back inside as like a tribute kind of thing, like, oh you know, this was for you kind of thing. I found this. There's one part of the movie where like she's hiding in the corner and she's hiding behind a pot as as she moves, she like creeps almost like a cat.

So the the the crew that made this do those like funny YouTube shorts, you know, uh the curry what's his name, Curry Barker or something like that. Yeah, and uh you know, like the the I can't think of one of the YouTube shorts. I don't know, the shorts, but well, I I think you've seen him on uh we're not good at remembering things on the show. We're we're old. But anyways, so he's a YouTube content creator, and uh he made this movie with like 20 million dollars or something like that. And he got some I think probably the most substantial actor was their boss at the store, which was uh the the Conan's you know guy from uh the Conan show. Uh Andy Richter. Yeah, Andy Richter, yeah. He was in he was in here for like five minutes. Um and uh but everybody else was like you know, pretty young people uh were and Darren Tounder that we interviewed a couple a couple about a month back now.

Oh yeah? Yeah, yeah. He was in this movie for a little bit. Which one was he? It was just a little short short. We interviewed him back in late.

Okay while you were there. What character was he? Well, uh so uh but yeah, the the the the the movie was original. Uh however, it kind of it leans heavy on some previous plots, like you know, that you can tell it was deeply inspired by. So is it groundbreaking for it being an indie movie and it being like good and successful and interesting? Absolutely. Is it the most original movie I've ever seen?

I I think her acting was really good at it because she she did really good of like transitioning between sweet to like psychotic to like angry kind of thing, like all in one scene, which was pretty good.

It was hard to feel uh bad for anybody because like everybody's just kind of a jerk to everybody, yeah.

Yeah, so even her and I mean well, really only you only find out something later on, which kind of is kind of bad, but even then they weren't she wasn't the guy that's like she's obsessed over because like mystically they weren't dating, so you know it's very graphic.

Uh in fact, it was so graphic that they had to tone down some of the violence.

Yeah, there's like one scene where she's like beating herself in the face.

Yeah, and then somebody gets died in a brutal way that when the There's a couple of them that die in a brutal way. That when the when the like unedited cut comes out, yeah, it's supposed to be like you know, terrible.

Um there's one I'll just say there's one person whose face is like flat at the end. Yeah. It's pretty cra crap. And as I was watching, I was like, jeez!

The the cinematography was really good because like some of the effects were kind of like not spectacular, but it the lighting was done in such a way where it lets your imagination make it way more potent than what it would have been otherwise.

And that's what I feel like with horror movies, it's better to let your imagination kind of work with it a little bit, as opposed to just show you everything, because then you're like, oh well that's what it is.

Yeah, the the director does a good job, which is that curry guy, he does a good job of letting like the uh characters play in the dark, and you don't really know what you're seeing until you you see just enough of it to let your your mind go over the top with it. Kind of some Spielbergian aspect behind it. In fact, Spielberg said that this was one of his favorite movies.

Um well, and another thing I like is like granted you you kind of know, you know, like the the whole obsession and mystical stuff comes from this little one wish willow thing, but they don't really explain a whole lot other than that. And they don't explain you know why she was acting this way, like what caused her to act that way other than the witch.

But uh like you can see that there's a lot of uh different recipes baked into this pie. And but is it is a good pie. I I would recommend it if you like gory horror movies that really make you like go.

So I just liked it because it was different, you know. It wasn't your your blatant like like it and all that stuff where it's just over the top CGI. No, it was let's just look creepy kind of thing.

It was well, it was tastefully done horror, yeah. So and then uh it definitely had an ending. I don't think they're gonna make like a paranormal two through seven out of it or anything like that.

I mean the only thing I could really see them carrying on is like the one wish item and make it like a whole nother story. I don't think the creator would want to do that, but probably not, but that's that's just I'm just saying that's the only thing I could see them being able to carry on.

Backrooms Lore Meets Indie Filmmaking

Uh I saw Backrooms. Oh yeah, which is the other indie movie that everybody showed up about, and it was okay. Uh it came from like an internet, you know what a creepypasta is? Yeah. So, Tom, do you know what a creepypasta is? Creepy pasta. Yeah. That's like an internet ghost story.

Things like that. No, it has like uh pages of like explanation of what's happening in a photo, and you would you you would be like spooky. Spooky. So backrooms, yeah. Backrooms started as as a creepypasta, and then it kind of blew up into uh, you know, like this like fandom and it got a video game and all this other stuff. And then um you know, this movie got made, and the movie was made by uh he's 21 years old, as this director, one of the youngest directors to make like the the the most money uh out of a movie. Uh I think he sets some sort of record for that. And uh he um he was the guy that like kind of helped escalate the creepypasta back in the day. And uh so he like knows the lore because there's like this movie. Uh the short of it is this dude runs a furniture store that nobody will come in and buy, and he's like running out of his business is folding and he's losing his mind. Is Chew Waddle for? I like that idea.

Um plays Baron Mordow. Yeah, there you go. Um and so he's like in his basement uh of the store because he's like homeless and he's living there, and uh he sees something weird in the wall, and he goes to touch the wall and he falls through it. Like it's like a it's not it's like a invisible portal, kind of, but the wall looks like it's there. So when he falls through it, he comes out into this like office complex of back rooms that are never ending. But then like the further away he gets from his shop, the more like they describe it like somebody is describing to a person how to draw a dog when they both have never seen a dog before. You know, so like the description like it gets worse and worse the more they describe it. That's kind of like how the backrooms get the further the movie comes along, and then the monsters that come out of it, the deeper you get into the back rooms. And so the horror aspect of that is actually pretty interesting. And there's some like some deep-rooted uh lore and culture that goes with it. So I liked it. I think I liked Obsession more, um, but uh I really liked both these movies, especially for them being low budget out of nowhere and just stomping on all these triple A budget that's just doing terrible right now. So yeah.

Toy Story 5 And Parenting Moments

It was really good though. Like I I really enjoyed it, and it it kind of harped back to like as your kids are growing up, they they stopped playing with toys nowadays because you got all these electronics and video games and all this stuff. So it kind of spanned the the gap between like you know, me and my daughter. We're like, because like I said, she grows up and she's had all these electronics. I barely had the original Game Boy until like I was like nine or ten.

So the brick. And eight, six level eight batteries an hour.

Utraman sacrifice. My daughter really liked it because there's one scene. There's one scene where one of the girls in the movie has like this whole wall of like toy horses on her shelf because she's gotten a little older, so she doesn't really play with them. But the like there's Buzz Lightyear and Woody, they have to get on these horses. There's one scene where they're uh riding to uh save Jesse, and as they they show up, Woody's on a horse that's like probably three times too big, or he's three times too big for it, so it's like his knees are sticking out to the side, and then uh Buzz rides up on this, like uh almost like a Pegasus, but it's like bright pink, it's got wings, and it throws its hair and hits him in the face, he has to move out of the way. But uh, you know, because it's it's it deals with like uh Jesse being left behind by her original person, and that she actually this new girl that ends up in the movie with the uh the original girl, I think it was like uh Anna or something like that. I don't know, yeah. But uh but they yeah, they end up she ends up back at the house that her original owner had. And that because if somebody takes her, they see it on her legs, they take her to that house, and that's how they end up there. So it it's it's really good because it you know it kind of showed without being like over the top, it showed you know the kind of dangers of just kids using their little lily pads, what they call it in the movie, to make friends. They need to make friends in real life, you know, not just somebody you sit down and talk to through text all the time. And so it was a good movie. I really enjoyed it. And they brought back Woody, he's got like his his bald spot. I like I like when he gets in, and like the sun hits it, and all the toys are like, ah, it's a blinding game.

But then they have like this whole like uh power struggle where Woody and Buzz are both kind of arguing over who's gonna go rescue Jesse because Buzz likes her, but you know, Woody she was trying to talk to Woody on like the uh walkie-talkie, and it got cut like interference with. So she he thought that she was asking her for help, so he came back to help, and so they're like arguing over who's gonna go help her. Yeah, so it's kind of fun. Fun to watch. I might watch it one day. It it was it was good. My my daughter really liked it.

And then like, we're doing a third one. We're making a fourth one. I saw a fourth one, I was like, This sucks. And I was like, What do you mean Woody's leaving everybody? No. That's nonsense.

But I had a funny mode today. We were grocery shopping, and the boy's like 13 months, and he's sitting in the shopping cart, and we're going down like the school supply aisle because we needed pencils. I don't know. Okay. And but all the Hot Wheels cars and like the nonsense toys are sitting there, and there's this big like Hot Wheels monster truck. And he's like, he like his like head just snaps to like all the toys, and he's like, huh. Because normally he's just trying to steal stuff out of the cart that you know he reaches behind him, grabs something, looks at, and then he throws it on the floor. He's like, You don't need that. I don't know why he does it. He's probably he's probably right. He's probably right. Well, he threw the cold cuts on the floor. We needed those. It's like, how am I supposed to eat sandwiches? But like I saw and I was like, You want the monster truck? And he was like, because he just makes grunting noises. And so I handed it to him, and he was like, But he like his whole face lit up, and like my wife just looks at me, and I'm like, I'm like, he's getting the monster truck. I just started, I just took the car and I was like, Let's go, kid.

My son likes monster trucks, and any cars. I took him to the uh Walmart and I was like, here, pick you something out, you know, well, kind of you know, within $20. We we walked up and down those aisles forever. We ended up on the uh the Hot Wheels aisle and he wanted like the three dollar cars, Hot Wheels car. And you're like, Yes, no, I was I was gonna I wanted him to buy some action figures because he he likes Batman.

I'm like, well, this was 80 bucks. We're building it now, you're sitting there and we're putting it together. I wanted to build it for him, but I was like, no, the kid must know the struggle. So we flash forward months later, we watch Dragon Ball Z, we finish it. He loves it, and then he sees Dragon Ball Z Kakarot on the Xbox, and he's like, I want that game. And I was like, I tell you what, I will buy you that game if you can finish the TIE Fighter. And so, like weeks later, I come home and he's like, Dad, look, and it is the most mangled sort of put together like that.

So this is like one of the zeit guys because it's everywhere now. It's this and is it's not even out on uh they're they're making a TV show, but it's not even like mainstream, like medium yet. That's how big the book series is. The author, his name is Matt Dinneman. Matt Dinneman. Matt Dinnerman. And uh he sold over 10 million copies. Like the Jeff Hayes guy who does the narration for the the books, which is like a league of its own. It's like one of the best narrators, like you know.

Um, but they're doing it smart, I think. So I I know you got all the details for it, Mitch.

So so these characters they have character sheets and they get skills and attributes like a video game and they upgrade, but like it's really strict rules and how it works, and so like the way that these characters get stronger makes sense. And each time they get an accomplishment or a loot box or something, you feel like that dopamine hit of like, yeah, what are you gonna get?

And it's really impressive on how well they keep up with this all the way through the books with all these characters.

Matt Dinneman has explained that he started out with a spreadsheet and he would like track all the characters' items and objects and skill points and stuff like that through a spreadsheet. He said it he got to like almost a thousand pages in the spreadsheet, and he had to pay somebody to make an a program that would do all this stuff for him, so you he he wouldn't have to click through all this stuff to see where they were at.

Well, but I mean, because he they get all just like in uh any kind of RPG that you play, that they get items that boost their stats by either percentages or by points. They have skills that go with these uh, you know, strengths, base skills, and all this stuff, and it's it's it's very complex if you were like trying to play this.

It's it's like it's like a very detailed role-playing game, but in the most goofiest setting possible, and violent, very, very violent, and uh uh the most like weird and appropriate pop culture references, you know, all the way back to like the 80s and stuff like that. So yeah.

It's a lot of fun, it is, but uh, granted, now Tom will have struggle with this part, but for if you want to help describe any of the characters for him, okay. But like for Carl, I had two people. One, yeah, he's older, but his personality fits perfect, and which is Jensen Accles.

Okay, so the point of contention for Carl is he's supposed to be 27 years old, but a lot of people think that like his character and mannerisms are for like a middle-aged, like 35 to 40 year old character. There's no way he's that well put together and knows all these crazy pop culture references, and and he's like a Coast Guard veteran, yeah, which I've never heard of before. And uh someone just turned off the show. You know, so like but it like he's a very level-headed uh the Jeff A's modeled his voice after Patrick Warburton. So it starts off very Patrick Warburton in the first book, and then he kind of like develops he kind of develops a more like subtle version of it that sticks a lot better.

But uh for personality-wise, Dean Winchester is is Carl personality because like he's he's very serious, he's very tough, but then he's also like very sarcastic and goofy when he needs it wants to be.

He's he's more of a white knight, I think, than Dean, because I think Dean True, true. So Carl doesn't want anybody to die, and he'll he'll do crazy stuff to to protect the people that he cares about, like crazy stuff. So yeah.

Uh the other person I had uh that I seems that most people recommend was Jack Quaid. Which he's not, I mean, not he's not very big and like buff for like a military kind of way they describe this guy.

But I think it would be interesting if they did that because Carl starts off as like a normal-looking bodybuild, but the stronger he gets, the more like you know, Olympic athlete he becomes. And I think if Jack Quaid could roid it up throughout the show and become a muscle house, you know, that would be interesting.

But like he has a little bit different voices and stuff on each one.

And then as a as a fun pastime activity, he started writing, and he's came up with this Dungeon Crawl Carl thing, and he didn't promote, he didn't have any marketing, he just self-published on Amazon, and then next thing you know, it like he's a millionaire, yeah. He's getting like top level per publishers like asking him, and they've like re-released his book yeah, they've re-released his books in special collectors editions, you know. And then what helped his cause more than anything, he credits a lot to Jeff Hayes because oh yeah, Jeff Hayes did the audiobook narration, and this dude, Jeff Hayes, came from like um a graphics production company. He has zero acting experience whatsoever. He's never done really any voice over work before, never done any voiceover work, never did any voice. But he can do really funny voices, he can do really funny voices and just started dabbling in sound uh design and stuff like that, and then just took these books and made them ten times even more amazing. And the the both of them feed off of each other, like a they're like a package deal. So yeah, it's really good. And so it's a once-in-a-lifetime, you know, like the the way that this all played out just would never happen again.

Okay, because he's he's essentially like Atrocitus is like basically like having a Superman level character with a group with a red lantern ring, because he's like that strong and durable, so it's pretty cool, and he's creepy looking. What else? He's like Baraka kind of teeth from Mortal Kombat.

Uh one, one of my favorite parts about the Princess Donut casting for Jeff Hayes. There was a lot of feminists that came out and found out that this was a female cat. There, there's a uh male actor getting casted as that. And like the social media that attacked these feminazis out there were beat them down. We're all women were like, Don't you disrespect my man, Princess Donut. That guy is Princess Donut, you know, and I was like, Yeah, get him. He can't be a female cat. And the second thing is there's a show coming out on Apple TV called Neuromancer, and this was a 1984 book by a guy named William Gibson who coined the phrase cyberspace, really uh personified how the internet would look, was the precursor to The Matrix and to Cyberpunk, and the the teaser came out, and a lot of people are like, Oh, this is just a copy of The Matrix. Oh, this is just a copy of Cyberpunk, and the fan base jumped on that too, and I was like, Yes, get him because uh Hayden was that fan base. I I started it, yeah. But uh yeah, no, this guy this show was considered unmakeable, kind of like Dune was, you know, because it's too ethereal, and the way that that William Gibson and his like LSD riddled brain try to describe how the internet works, you know, and in a physical kind of space was uh was a lot for people to comprehend back in the eighties, let alone today, and it because it's like divergent from what the internet really is. Nobody knew what the internet was back in the eighties. So yeah, and then uh for it to be what it is in a modern take of that retro aspect of how the internet was uh you know developed in this dude's brain into a TV show, uh I think it'll be really interesting to see. So I'm excited for that. That comes out in January. Is that everything?

So essentially every time uh Wolverine slashes somebody, the game will re know and remember where Wolverine's claws touches a bad guy and leave marks there. Oh, okay. Instead of it just being like a guy gets bloodier the more damage he gets. Oh, that's cool. So like they're they're implementing a lot of cool uh technologies and these like background AIs that do stuff that make video games a lot more immersive. Uh one thing that I heard is is that uh a lot of people don't like Logan's face in this Wolverine game.
